The Quezon City Tourism Department's Tourism Planning Division invited WTA Labs as a guest to the recent Curator’s Tour: A Lecture and Tour by Ar. Gerard Lico held at Bahay Modernismo in Quezon Memorial Circle, Quezon City. The event offered participants an immersive walkthrough of the heritage museum, which explores Filipino domestic life and architectural modernism during the post-war decades.
Led by architect, curator, and heritage conservationist Gerard Lico, the tour unpacked the historical and cultural narratives embedded within the museum’s recreated mid-century interiors, furnishings, and urban context. Bahay Modernismo, constructed using fragments from the former Aquino family residence on Times Street, serves as a living museum reflecting the optimism, suburban growth, and evolving lifestyles of the Philippines from the 1950s to the 1970s.
WTA Labs joined fellow guests, media practitioners, and cultural advocates in exploring how architecture, memory, and public heritage can shape contemporary conversations on urban identity and preservation. The visit also opened opportunities for dialogue on the role of digital mapping, research, and spatial storytelling in documenting and communicating Philippine cultural landscapes.
The Curator’s Tour formed part of the Quezon City Government’s continuing efforts to promote public engagement with the city’s architectural and cultural heritage through accessible and educational programming.
